Dayton vs UMass Final: 72-48 - Recap

The battle between Dayton and UMass didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as UMass was handed a 72-48 defeat on Tuesday at Mullins Center.

Dayton won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -6.0-point spread as favorites.

Dayton got 19 points from Obadiah Toppin and another 18 points from Josh Cunningham. Ryan Mikesell contributed 4 assists, while Trey Landers cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.

UMass got a 21-point performance from Jonathan Laurent, who was supported by 8 points from Tre Wood. Carl Pierre had 3 assists in a losing cause for UMass, while Randall West grabbed 6 rebounds.

Dayton led at halftime, 40-19.

Dayton won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 31-28.

Dayton heads into a battle against Rhode Island. UMass, meanwhile, will have their next action against Duquesne.
